Hickory Flat uses big third quarter to advanve to 3rd round of state playoffs

The Lady Rebels worked hard all season and earned a pair of home games to start the 2020 MHSAA playoffs.

They weren’t going to let being down in the first half to a quality opponent spoil a season worth of work. Not on their home court, as the Lady Rebels defeated Wheeler 58-49 on Friday.

Hickory Flat turned a 26-22 halftime deficit into a 46-36 advantage thanks to a 14-2 run highlighted by a pair of Abby Tatum three pointers and a showcase of R’Daztiny Harris doing what she does best: get buckets.

Hickory Flat would not trail again, as their home fans got to savor the final minutes of a group of seniors who won their 90th game of their high school careers.

Harris ended with a game high 28 points, the only Lady Rebel in double digits.

The Lady Rebels advance to play Pine Grove in the Class 1A Quarterfinals at ICC.
