Hickory Flat one win away from North Half after sweep of West Union
The Hickory Flat Lady Rebels making an appearance in the MHSAA volleyball playoffs is nothing new.
The difference in this year and previous years? They are competing only against teams in their 1A classifcation. And that could spell trouble for the rest of the state.
The Lady Rebels got their 2020 edition of the playoffs underway on Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep of West Union 25-13, 25-5, 25-7.
The Mississippi Sports Group #1 ranked 1A girls volleball team in the state got a huge game from junior Emma Wilson, who put up 21 aces and 9 kills in leading Hickory Flat in to the second round.
The Lady Rebels were competing without a pair of key contributors due to COVID contact tracing but they are expected to be back for the second round matchup against Biggersville.
Hickory Flat moved to 16-3 on the season. With a victory on Saturday at Biggersville the Lady Rebels will find themselves a 3rd round win away from competing for a state title.
